Coche-Color 50g can. You can achieve various bright crimson/pink shades with the natural material
Required quantity ca. 0,5-5,0% of the dyeing weight.
Required stain for wool and silk alum (ca.10%)
Cellulose substances ca.3% tannin or tannin light and then ca.10% alum stain
COCHE-COLOR is an extract made of female insects of Dactylopius coccus. By using Aluminium mordant different brilliant shades from pink to carmine-red are possible. The ladybug sized insect is cultivated on Opuntia (Cactus), especially in Latin America but also on Canary islands. The insects produce a red dyestuff, also widely used in food industry. In ancient time the extracts were also used for the dyeing of sacral robes.
