Felting clothes
The book »Filzen Clothes« is aimed at people who have mastered the basics of felting and who already have experience in the manufacture of thin felts. In well-illustrated step-by-step instructions, it explains in detail how seamless felt clothing can be made yourself.
The basic knowledge required for this - choice of material, cutting development, calculation of the shrinkage factor and working techniques - is conveyed by four basic models. To get started, the production of a sleeveless top is shown, followed by a top with half-length sleeves. Then the production of a wrap skirt is explained and a jacket with a collar and inserted pockets is presented as a masterpiece. These models can be varied as desired and adapted to your own style, and you can also implement your own designs based on them. So a top can eventually lengthen into a dress and a jacket can turn into a coat with a sweeping finish.
The picture gallery, which shows some models from Inge Bauer's textile workshop, provides inspiration for this. Inge Bauer was a master at felting seamless clothing. It has developed its own technology for this, which it has continuously expanded and perfected. As a sought-after lecturer at home and abroad, she passed on her extensive knowledge for decades, including at the Oberrot felt school, which she co-founded. Her workbook for the production of seamless felt clothing is now published posthumously - with textile designer Regina Mattmüller-Maier as co-author. The basic concept for this was created in collaboration with Ricarda Aßmann, the numerous photos are from Hans König. With this book, Inge Bauer's felting techniques are to be passed on to interested felters.
The workbook invites you to learn the felting techniques with which an individual wardrobe can be developed. Thanks to her many years of experience as a lecturer, Inge Bauer knows exactly where the challenges lie. That is why there are many professional tips from her and Regina Mattmüller-Maier's wealth of experience in "Filzen Clothes", which take into account the pitfalls in the manufacture of thin felt clothing.
