Colorful dyeing
Dyeing fun guaranteed!
• Using plants found in every household
• Numerous step-by-step illustrations
• Upcycling old fabrics
Thanks to Easter eggs, most people know that onions can be used for dyeing, but many are unaware that thyme, black tea, almonds, and hibiscus flowers can also be used to dye fabrics. This book explains how easy it is to dye fabrics at home using plants and simple methods. First, the most important fabrics are introduced, such as wool, silk, linen, and cotton. Then the various dyeing techniques are explained and the differences in the results (color intensity) are shown, as well as the possibility of influencing the color nuances. Another important question is also answered, of course: how long the colors last. The individual plants are then presented, sorted by color, which can be found in many households anyway or are very easy to obtain in stores. The book concludes with 12 projects that show how the dyed fabrics can be further processed or how old fabrics (e.g., a stained T-shirt or crocheted doily) can be given a completely different look thanks to their new color.
